Multilevel analyses for time-series and (longitudinal) dyadic data, 2-3 December 2024
EPP Symposium 158

This symposium will introduce PhD-candidates to multilevel analytical techniques for time-series and longitudinal dyadic data. These methods are increasingly relevant in psychological research, especially given the growing trend toward studying complex, dynamic systems across multiple time points and relational contexts. The symposium will provide a conceptual overview of multilevel models and their statistical background, highlighting their utility in capturing both within-person and between-person variability, as well as interdependent relationships within dyads over time. Participants will be invited to reflect on the theoretical and practical advantages of multilevel approaches, such as the ability to model nested structures and time-varying covariates in Randomised Controlled Trials as well as in (their own) experimental research. In addition to conceptual discussions, students will gain hands-on experience by working with sample datasets, learning how to structure, preprocess, analyze longitudinal (dyadic) data using multilevel models in R, and interpret the results.
