This symposium brings together developmental, clinical, and systemic perspectives to explore how parent-child interactions and stressful experiences intertwine with psychopathology across generations. Talks will address the intergenerational transmission of child maltreatment and anxiety, family perspectives in adolescent depression, and parent–child interactions following loss and grief.
The symposium includes an interactive workshop introducing systemic therapy principles, offering a relational lens for understanding and intervening in these complex dynamics. Together, these contributions will highlight the importance of taking into account various perspectives and how studying parent–child interactions provides a powerful window into both underlying mechanisms and the treatment of psychopathology.
